Robel speeds up automation in track maintenance

The Robel Group invests in bringing automation to the track: Since 12.04.2022, Robel Holding GmbH holds a 100% stake in the newly formed Robel Rail Automation GmbH with its head office in Freilassing, Germany. Dr. Michael Reiter, previously Head of the Robel R&D Hub, takes over as Managing Director of the company, which is positioning itself as the group’s expert in automation for customers and sister companies.

Robel Rail Automation pursues development projects in the automation of maintenance processes of the railway infrastructure. The company is already developing concepts for modular components that complement existing customer systems with automated solutions. This will provide track construction and maintenance companies with new tools to deal with the increasing time and personnel pressures in track construction and maintenance.

Managing Director Dr. Michael Reiter about the motivation to think automation in track maintenance: “Working on the track is hard. By developing sustainable, safe and comprehensible work site processes, we will contribute to better working conditions and reproducible results and thus strengthen the railway system in the long term.”
